The Franciscan Fraternity of Bethany in Rovio is set in a picturesque landscape on the slopes of Monte Generoso, overlooking Lake Lugano opening up into a sinuous basin. It is located slightly lower than the old town center of Rovio, a small village in Ticino, green and flourishing. The abundance of nature immediately immerses you in a meditative context that leads to prayer. This very much characterizes the stays of those who visit us: peace, prayer and fraternity.
Initially this structure housed the Saint Felix Institute, which gives its name to the House, which from its foundation has been dedicated to the support and education of needy children, in agreement with the municipal and cantonal authorities.
As a young friar, Father Pancrazio became spiritually attached to many friends from Switzerland. Several times a year he came to visit them to give them advice, friendship, blessings and prayers.
So the search for a house in Ticino lasted for years until they landed in Rovio, back in 2000. Renovation work followed to adapt it to our needs, which ended with the inauguration in 2002.
The care for souls that our founder bore witness to, slowly turned into attention to the needs of the social fabric of Ticino. First with the Ancilla Domini prayer groups, then by becoming a point of reference for the surrounding parishes.
Even today, being an oasis of prayer in Ticino, we believe it is a growing reality. We look forward to welcoming you, so that you can experience friendship in God and among us!
